Hurricane Katrina Wrecks the New Orleans Superdome Roof: SPF to the Rescue
On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina
sheared away much of the Louisiana
Superdome’s EPDM rubber roof
covering. This giant, historic stadium
turned emergency shelter is the
world’s largest domed structure at
9. 7 acres in size and 27 stories high.
When the hurricane wrath was over,
the decision was made to repair the
structure and have it ready for the
upcoming NFL season.
