Hygrade Insulators Inc., the SPF contractor
for the project, re-roofed 13 buildings in
preparation of the solar panels.
“SPF was used to maintain the existing building
in a watertight condition, for the anticipated
life of the solar panels,” said Robert Piccione Jr.,
project manager at Hygrade. “Spray foam was
used because it is energy and cost efficient.”
863,000 square feet of roofing, which is roughly

required 610 drums of spray foam and 25,950
gallons of protective coating.
“The size of the project presented a serious
problem,” said Piccione. “We had to make sure
the roofs were completed with enough time for
the solar guys to come in and install the solar
panels. We worked with multiple crews to get
the work done on time.”
